Paper Rose Wreath

So this is why I haven't posted any new projects lately. This paper wreath took me over 16 hours to finish, but I think it was totally worth it. I have seen this done where they don't paint the roses and the finished product is just as beautiful (perfect for a home library).

What you will need:
(1) Styrofoam wreath form (I used a 12")
(2) Pink yarn
(3) Book (I used approximately 350 pages)
(4) Hot glue/glue gun (lots of it)
(5) Metallic acrylic paint (493 Bright Red/FolkArt)
(6) Paint brush/bowl
(7) Scissors
(8) Pearl beads

How I Did It:
(1) Make 100's of paper roses. Remove three pages from your book. Cut those three pages in half. Take a half and round its edges. Then cut, from the outside, in circles to the center of the page.
Then from the outside start rolling the paper to the center. Using hot glue, glue the rolled edges to the center. To vary the sizes let the paper expand while placing it in the hot glue.

(2) Paint roses. In a bowl water down your metallic paint, until you are happy with the color. Try to remember how much of each so if needed you can make another batch. I submerged the rose right into the water/paint and then used a brush to cover up the rest. Your roses will be really wet and will need to dry at least overnight. While they are wet you can manipulate the petals.

(3) Prep the styrofoam wreath. Using a bit of hot glue attach the yarn to the back. Then wind the yarn around the entire wreath. Using hot glue, glue the end to the back of the wreath. I found it easier to do this in multiple lengths than trying to do it in one length.
